Meet Our ND’s – Dr. Mélanie Robinson, ND – Edmonton
My goal is to empower individuals to take control of their health. This starts with education and discussion about how the body works and how lifestyle, nutrition and mind/body/spirit can affect your health. I believe that when someone understands their health condition and how something such as a nutrition plan or hormone balancing can help them, they are more likely to buy-in and have more incentive to move forward.
Since childhood, I have always been interested in helping others. When I got older, my goal was to become a pharmacist and I ended up working part-time in a pharmacy for 4 years. In my 3rd year of undergrad at U of A, I discovered information about Naturopathic Medicine at a career fair. I felt drawn by this medicine and found a local ND to help with my asthma. This medicine changed my life as it helped me overcome my severe asthma. I have not needed any medications since my early 20s. I decided to change career paths after I discovered how effective naturopathic medicine truly is.
I am passionate about empowering women, especially mothers, to feel more energized and less overwhelmed. As a mom who suffered from postpartum depression and anxiety, I understand the challenges motherhood can present. I love working with women and children! I have a special interest in hormones, mental health, and asthma. A large portion of my patients are francophone and appreciate having their consultations with me in French.
In 2008, I helped organize BINM’s first medical brigade to Nicaragua with NDI. I have travelled to over 25 countries (many of them were backpacking!). My first language is French, and I learned English later in childhood. From 2012-2016, I had a satellite clinic in my hometown of Bonnyville, where I was the first ND serving that community.
In 2020-2021, I became a published co-author in 2 books in the series BluTalks, which both became best sellers.
As a single mom, I am involved with my son’s sports and schooling activities. I helped coach his soccer team recently, which was a first for me! I love exploring Edmonton’s beautiful river valley and being outdoors.
I practice at Naturally Inclined Health in Edmonton, which I joined in April 2022. Prior to that, I practiced at Optimum Wellness Integrated Clinic in Edmonton for 10 years.
